As a writer and educator I have tried to adapt; as the way we engage with the world becomes increasingly digital.
In doing so, I realized that whether I find myself in the classroom dissecting frogs with students or in the Arctic tundra reporting on climate change, technology served as my interface; bringing our outside and inside worlds together.
Environmental advocacy—as a Naturalist for the Massachusetts Audubon Society—meant trekking in search of local plant and animal species. To map these rugged habitats required satellite technology (G.I.S.) .
The only proof of my B.S. in Biology, B.A. in Journalism, and M.Ed. in Education are the diplomas; framed and printed on parchment paper. Even still, I must share my accolades here, in the binary code of 0s and 1s.
Finally, we meet at the bottom of this page, at the frontier of the Generative AI era, where our only connection to each other is virtual. Perhaps even THIS, is just another ChatGPT edit? No. Fear not.
